Robin transferred to the Bar after almost a decade in private practice as a solicitor, including as a partner specialising in employment law. He subsequently served as Head of Legal Services, Deputy Monitoring Officer and, most recently, Director of Law and Governance and Monitoring Officer for a large local authority.
As the Council's chief legal adviser, Robin advised elected members, senior officers and HR on a broad range of legal matters, including employment, constitutional and public law. He also led legal teams across employment, child protection, contracts and commercial, adult social care, property and litigation.
Having instructed counsel as both a solicitor and chief legal adviser, Robin understands what professional clients expect from counsel.
Robin accepts instructions in employment, private family law and civil litigation. He is also available to accept appointments as an independent investigator in workplace and local government matters.

Robin accepts instructions in all aspects of private law children proceedings, including applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issue Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders.
He has represented parties throughout proceedings, including interim hearings, contested fact-finding hearings and final hearings.
Robin's experience leading legal teams advising on child protection matters gives him an understanding of the statutory framework within which many private law disputes arise.
Employment law has been a central feature of Robin's legal career.
Before transferring to the Bar, Robin was a partner leading an employment law practice. He advised employers on unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, executive exits, restrictive covenants, workplace investigations and business protection.
Robin later served as Director of Law and Governance and Monitoring Officer for a large local authority, where he continued to advise senior officers and HR on employment matters affecting a workforce of approximately 5,000 employees.
Robin accepts instructions on behalf of employers and employees in Employment Tribunal proceedings, together with advisory and drafting work.
Robin is available to undertake independent workplace investigations and investigations concerning elected members.
His experience as Director of Law & Governance and Monitoring Officer gives him an understanding of the legal and procedural issues arising during internal investigations.
Robin undertakes investigations into allegations including bullying, harassment, discrimination, whistleblowing and misconduct. He is also available to investigate complaints concerning elected members under local authority standards procedures and to chair disciplinary and appeal hearings where an independent legally qualified chair is required or preferred.
Robin accepts instructions in contractual disputes, injunctions and business protection matters.
Robin accepts instructions in landlord and tenant, possession proceedings and boundary disputes.
Robin is available to assist parties through a range of non-court dispute resolution processes, including early neutral evaluation, round table meetings, joint conferences and early merits advice.
Robin accepts instructions in financial remedy proceedings and calls upon his wide litigation experience to the benefit of clients and instructing solicitors.
He regularly undertakes FDA’s, FDR’s, interim appolications and is available to represent clients throughout financial remedy proceedings.
Robin is a keen cyclist and runner.
