Rebecca transferred to the Bar in 2023 from her role as a Chartered Legal Executive working in private practice. Before being called to the Bar, Rebecca began her career working in private practice in 2012 and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2018 throughout this time specialising in children and family matters. Rebecca began undertaking advocacy in 2016 in a range of matters including public and private law children, domestic violence and injunctions and family finances. Rebecca passed the Bar Transfer Test in 2019 and for the latter four years has primarily specialised in public law children matters.

Public Law Children: Care Proceedings and Adoption

Within her role in private practice, over the last four years Rebecca has primarily specialised in public law children cases undertaking both litigation and advocacy. Rebecca has gained a wide range of knowledge and experience in this field. Rebecca regularly appears in the Magistrates, County Courts and Family Drug and Alcohol Court.

Rebecca regularly deals with cases involving allegations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect including chronic neglect, parental alienation, drug and alcohol, domestic abuse, mental health and non-accidental injury. Rebecca also regularly deals with matters concerning Special Guardianship and contact with children in care.

Over the past decade, Rebecca’s role as an in-house lawyer has meant she has experience in dealing with a variety of clients such as parents, family members including grandparents and intervenors. Rebecca has also acted for the Official Solicitor and represented children through their Children’s Guardian. Rebecca regularly represents vulnerable clients including those with cognitive impairment and capacity issues. Rebecca has a calm and compassionate approach, appreciating the need for sensitivity.

Private Law Children: Contact and Residence Disputes Under the Children Act 1989

Rebecca has represented both Applicants and Respondents in cases involving applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issue Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. This has included disputes concerning where children should live, how much time should be spent with a parent, parental responsibility, changing children’s names, children’s education and removing children from the country. Rebecca also has experience in matters which involve allegations of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, domestic abuse, substance misuse and parental alienation.

Domestic Violence & Injunctions

Rebecca has experience in representing both Applicants and Respondents on matters concerning applications for injunctive orders, non-molestation orders and occupation orders under The Family Law Act 1996. Rebecca represents clients on both ex-parte and on notice applications.
