Callan joined Chambers as a Pupil in October 2025. During his pupillage, Callan has been supervised by Sara Chalk and Tracey Hennessey, and has gained experience in all aspects of family and civil law including care proceedings, private children law and family finance matters.
Callan was called to the Bar in March 2025, having achieved an overall ‘Distinction’ on the BTC, with grades of ‘Distinction’ in civil litigation, criminal litigation, advocacy and opinion writing.
Before joining chambers, Callan worked as a County Court Advocate and took instructions in a variety of civil practice areas including property law disputes, chancery and commercial matters, and personal injury settlements. It was during this time that Callan was noted by Judges for his advocacy and professionalism.
Prior to this, Callan worked with Coram IAC gaining traction in international adoption law. Callan has also worked the area of employment and discrimination law through his role as a trade union representative. Alongside his BTC studies, Callan worked with Goldman Sachs and the University of Oxford in business growth consulting.

During pupillage, Callan gained extensive knowledge in all areas of public children law. In his first six, Callan observed fellow members on complex matters including cases concerning allegations of non-accidental injures including infant death and multiple fractures, fabricated or induced illness, and neglect including chronic neglect.
Callan has continued to grow his experience in this area and has assisted on a number of cases where interim and final care orders were made. Callan has gained particular experience in cases concerning domestic abuse where sexual, physical or emotional abuse is alleged.
Through his work with Coram IAC, Callan assisted in processing adoptions from both Hague and non-Hague compliant countries. Callan specialised in India based adoptions, but also oversaw adoptions from the USA and South Africa, as well as kinship adoptions.
Callan’s main area of practice is family law, he has a specific interest in family finance and private child law. During pupillage, Callan has experience in applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issue Orders, and Prohibited Steps Orders. Callan has also observed complex matters that have involved serious allegations of domestic abuse, removal from jurisdiction, and parental alienation.
Callan has gained experience in all aspects of Family Law Act 1996 proceedings, including applications for Non-Molestation Orders, and Occupation Orders.
During pupillage, Callan has gained insight into all stages of family finance proceedings from First Hearing Appointments, Financial Dispute Appointments and Final Hearings.
Alongside his studies, Callan acted as a trade union representative for CAIWU. He represented members through a number of employment law disputes, including unlawful pay deductions and unfair dismissals.
During pupillage, Callan has assisted members with complex employment law appeal cases concerning TUPE and retained EU and assimilated law. Callan continues to grow his practice in this area.
Callan has been instructed on a variety of civil law matters including: contractual disputes, summary judgements, applications to restore proceedings, applications to set aside judgements and applications to suspend warrants of execution.
Callan also has notable experience from taking instructions on a number of insolvency and asset recovery matters including: bankruptcy proceedings, charging orders, return of goods, and applications to set aside statutory demands.
Callan has acted on a range of property law matters including mortgage possessions, applications to suspend warrants of possession, LPA receiver hearings and residential landlord and tenant matters.
Outside of Chambers, Callan enjoys sailing, hiking and skiing. Callan is also qualified to lead outdoor expeditions.
