Callan joined Chambers as a Pupil in October 2025. During his pupillage, Callan has been supervised by Sara Chalk, experiencing all aspects of family law ranging from private children matters and ancillary relief to care proceedings.

Callan was called to the Bar in March 2025, having achieved an overall ‘Distinction’ on the BTC, with grades of ‘Distinction’ in advocacy, civil litigation, criminal litigation, and opinion writing.

Before joining chambers, Callan worked as a County Court advocate and took instructions in a variety of civil practice areas including property law disputes, chancery and commercial matters, and personal injury. It was during this time that Callan was noted by County Court Judges for his advocacy and professionalism.

Prior to this, Callan worked with Coram IAC gaining experience in international adoption law. Callan has also worked in employment and discrimination law through his role as a volunteer trade union representative for CAIWU. Alongside his barrister training, Callan worked with Goldman Sachs and the University of Oxford to provide business growth to opportunities to over two thousand UK based small businesses.

Expertise

Family: Care & Children

 

Callan’s main area of practice is Family Law. During pupillage, Callan has been able to gain experience in all aspects of family law. Callan has a specific interest in family finance and public & private child law.

Through his work with Coram IAC, Callan assisted in processing adoptions from both Hague and non-Hague compliant countries. Callan specialised in India based adoptions, but also oversaw adoptions from the USA, South Africa, as well as a number of kinship adoptions.

As a County Court Advocate, Callan was also instructed on a number of infant settlement personal injury cases.

 


Employment & Discrimination

 

Alongside his studies, Callan also acted as a volunteer trade union representative for CAIWU. He represented members through a number of employment law disputes, including unlawful pay deductions and unfair dismissals.

 


Chancery and Commercial

 

As a County Court Advocate, Callan was instructed on a variety of civil law matters including: contractual disputes, summary judgements, applications to restore proceedings, applications to set aside judgements and applications to suspend warrants of execution.

Callan also has notable experience from taking instructions on a number of insolvency and asset recovery matters including: bankruptcy proceedings, charging orders, return of goods, and applications to set aside statutory demands.

 


Property

 

Callan has been instructed on a range of property law matters including: mortgage possessions, applications to suspend warrants of possession, LPA receiver hearings and residential landlord and tenant matters.

Outside of Chambers, Callan enjoys sailing, hiking and travelling. Callan is also a music fanatic and hosted his own radio show whist completing his undergraduate studies.
