Court of Protection

The Court of Protection team deal with applications under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 for vulnerable adults who lack capacity to make certain important decisions for themselves.

These decisions can involve:

  • Property
  • Financial matters
  • Personal welfare (including medical treatment or deprivation of liberty)
  • Appointing a Deputy and Deputyship matters generally

We accept instructions from private individuals, family members, local authorities and the Official Solicitor; appearing in the Court of Protection both in London and on the local Circuit.

We recognise that all proceedings that involve the Court of Protection are highly sensitive and our aim is to work together alongside both solicitors and lay clients alike to provide friendly, sympathetic and effective advice.

Many Members of Chambers have relevant experience in the family Courts (in public law and care proceedings; private law children work and family finance).  This means that our team are both experienced in dealing with sensitive and complex reports as well having an intrinsic understanding of individuals financial affairs, estates and trusts.

Chambers are accredited by the Bar Council as course providers and Members of chambers provide in house seminars, training and presentations, whether in house at the clients premises or here in chamber. For further information regarding are lectures please visit our seminars page

If you need any assistance in any of these areas, please contact our  clerking team for the on 023 80 73 6812  or e-mail
